Sofia Järnefelt is a Helsinki based freelance womenswear designer specialized in jersey and cut-and-sew knit. She graduated from the prestigious Aalto School of Fashion in Helsinki in 2011 and has since then designed collections for the iconic Finnish lifestyle brand Marimekko. Järnefelt's recent clients also include one of worlds leading consulting agencies in trends, style, innovation and future insights - Peclers Paris. She is also repeatedly working as a guest lecturer at Aalto University in Helsinki as well as Shanghai International College of Fashion and Innovation at Donghua University in Shanghai. In 2012 Järnefelt co-founded Pre Helsinki together with 4 other young women. Sofia Järnefelt is one of the most awarded young Finnish fashion designers. In 2009 she won the Designers' Nest award in Copenhagen, with famous Parisian designer, Gaspard Yurkievich, heading the jury. In 2011 she won the Aalto award in Helsinki, with Junsuke Yamasaki, Fashion Editor of Vogue Homme Japan, as Head of Jury. That same year she was also awarded by the house of Seppälä, a commercial Finnish fashion brand established in 1930.
